Bruce started working with Crawford Productions in 1978 and went freelance as a camera assistant and focus puller in 1982 working on feature films, television series and commercials for ten years.
While shooting smaller projects, he embarked on an intense period of designing and operating motion control systems and developed a solid knowledge of post-production techniques and the relatively new complex aspects of visual effects. During this time, Bruce had the opportunity to shoot many and varied projects across all formats both here and overseas.
Since being granted the honour of ACS accreditation in 1998, Bruce has been working on feature films, television series, TVCs and traditional animation projects in the capacities of Director of Photography, 2nd Unit DP, camera operator and VFX supervisor.
He loves his job and the camaraderie of a likeminded team during the process of creative filmmaking. His passion for his craft is as strong today as the first time he walked onto a film set.
Bruce has been shooting stills all throughout his career as a natural complement to his cinematography.
Starting with film and progressing to the digital formats, he has kept up with whatever technology has come along. With that in mind, he completed a Degree in Photography in 2015 to assure his creativity is as energetic, vital and up to date as can be.
He finds living on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Australia helps feed that creativity as there are stunning vistas around every corner. He has his camera with him all the time in case the light is right and an opportunity presents itself.
